The Camp
Camp Okavango’s central hub features a series of connected pathways leading to two lounge spaces, a dining area, a library, a self-service bar, and a gift shop. Expansive ramps descend to the lower deck, which includes two open-air fire pits and cozy seating areas perfect for unwinding and enjoying the natural scenery. Another deck boasts a rim-flow swimming pool and a shaded lounge area for relaxing on warm summer days.
Accommodation
To provide a serene and authentic safari experience, Camp Okavango hosts only twenty-four guests. There are eleven cozy safari suites and one family suite with two bedrooms, each featuring an en-suite bathroom. Each suite is constructed on an individual elevated wooden platform nestled under the dense Okavango Delta foliage. The en-suite bathrooms include dual vanities, double showers, and a separate water closet with a view. Sliding doors open onto a private open-air viewing deck, offering stunning vistas of the Okavango Delta.
Activities and Wildlife
Water excursions are led by skilled professional guides who adeptly steer guests through the intricate, reed-lined channels. Explore the expansive waters from a modern motorboat or delve into the Okavango Delta’s details the traditional way, in a mokoro (dugout canoe).
For those seeking a closer encounter with nature, guided bush walks on nearby islands offer the chance to track larger terrestrial species inhabiting this aquatic wilderness. Birdwatching opportunities are exceptional, and anglers can test their skills against bream and tiger fish. As a water-based camp, Camp Okavango does not offer game drives using safari vehicles.
Guests staying three nights or more can enjoy a night on the new Camp Okavango sleep-out deck. This open deck allows you to sleep under the stars and embrace the vastness of the Okavango Delta. The sleep-out deck includes a comfortable bed (with mosquito net), bathroom, and all the amenities needed for a restful night outdoors.
