Dune Ridge is a Renowned Rural Retreat nestled within a 4500ha seaside nature sanctuary between the two picturesque coastal towns of St Francis Bay and Cape St Francis.
Since opening its doors just over eight years ago, this owner-operated retreat has established itself as a beloved hideaway for visitors who cherish authentic rural living.
We take pride in our meticulous attention to detail, opulent lodgings, and serene natural surroundings. Our goal is to craft the ultimate guest journey, highlighting our distinctive and inviting South African hospitality.
Beyond hosting guests, our focus is on reducing our ecological footprint as much as possible by supporting local enterprises and producing many of our own goods while giving back to the land and local community.
The Family Cottage
Private and serene, our Family Cottage is perfect for cherishing moments with loved ones, soaking in the tranquility, or simply reconnecting with nature. Snuggle up in the sunlit lounge with a book, enjoy a cup of tea on your own patio, or simply soak in the views over the native gardens.
Ideal for family gatherings or perfect for a group of friends traveling together for a delightful escape.
Textiles are rich and lavish, with two bedrooms, a private lounge area featuring an indoor fireplace, and a spacious separate bathroom with a bathtub and shower.
The secluded patios provide excellent opportunities for observing birds and butterflies in our fynbos gardens
The Garden Suites
These four garden suites are connected to the main house and are conveniently located near all lodge amenities. Each room has its own private entrance with a spacious patio leading into the lush native gardens.
These larger accommodations provide a comfortable stay for couples wishing to explore the area or spend a day on the golf course, with ample space to stow shopping bags or golf clubs.
Equipped with an additional fold-out ottoman, these suites also cater to families with young children. Rooms are adorned with deep-hued furnishings, each uniquely decorated in rich textiles.
The suites all lead to expansive bathrooms with windows overlooking the gardens, ball and claw bathtubs, showers, marble-topped counters, and separate toilets.
The Garden Cottages
Secluded and peaceful, these two privately positioned suites are perfect for romance, contemplation, and deep connection with both nature and oneself.
Each unit is individually decorated in soft, romantic color schemes that evoke a calming and relaxing atmosphere. Breathe in the sea air, listen to the soothing sound of the ocean, and absorb the fragrant essence of the unique fynbos surrounding you—perfect for relaxation, reflection, and reconnection.
Culinary Experience
We utilize only the most vibrant ingredients, sourced as close to Dune Ridge as feasible, with many hailing from our own organic garden on the premises.
This means that as you delight in that handcrafted gnocchi or lively gremolata, you’re savoring the freshest organic produce, aiding us in supporting local and minimizing our ecological impact.
Breakfast is served either in the native gardens, main house, or by the swimming pool, or you can request a packed picnic basket to be enjoyed at your convenience.
Dinners in the cozy dining room promise an exploration of flavors and textures as you navigate our evening offerings. Menus shift daily based on what is in season and locally available.

Organic Produce
We believe that nothing tastes better than freshly harvested organic vegetables and herbs, which is why we cultivate our own in our herb garden adjacent to our kitchen and various other gardens on the property.
These are picked prior to every meal to ensure our guests receive only the freshest ingredients on their plates.
