As our plane descended into Lusaka Airport, a thrill of anticipation swept through us, especially when we saw the warm smiles of the welcoming team. They greeted us with chilled, eucalyptus-scented towels—a thoughtful touch that instantly soothed our travel weariness. From the very beginning, this small gesture set the tone for an unforgettable 10 night African Safari Zambia adventure, blending meticulous planning with the heartfelt hospitality that Zambia is known for.

Untamed Heart at Puku Ridge: South Luangwa’s Magic

To start, our journey took us to Puku Ridge in South Luangwa, reached after a 1-hour 10-minute flight to Mfuwe Airport and a 1.5-hour road transfer. Right away, the all-inclusive stay in a luxurious Double Suite felt like a warm embrace. Meals, local drinks, and laundry were seamlessly included, enhancing the African experience during our African Safari Zambia. For example, day and night safari game drives revealed leopards stalking through the bush and elephants bathing in the river. Additionally, guided walks and cultural visits to nearby villages deepened our connection to the land. As a result, our four nights at Puku Ridge ignited a passion for Zambia’s untamed heart.

Following this, we returned to Mfuwe Airport and flew to Jeki Airstrip via Lusaka—a journey of about 1 hour 55 minutes—followed by a quick 15-minute transfer to Lolebezi in the Lower Zambezi. Without delay, we settled into the all-inclusive Double Suite, a haven of comfort. Meals, drinks, and activities like game drives and canoeing excursions (water levels permitting) were included. One evening, a sunset boat trip on the Zambezi River, with hippos grunting nearby, felt like a dream. Finally, our last stop was Thorntree River Lodge. It was reached after a short flight from Jeki to Livingstone via Lusaka, followed by a 25-minute transfer. Immediately upon arrival, the all-inclusive Double Room offered a perfect blend of luxury and adventure. Highlights included a sunrise boat trip on the Zambezi and a guided walk on a local island. In addition, a mountain bike trail to a nearby village and a visit to a cultural museum (entrance fees extra) enriched our understanding of Zambia’s heritage. Part of the African Safari Zambia experience, a walk in the gorge below Victoria Falls left us speechless, though Falls entrance fees were additional. Consequently, our two nights at Thorntree were a vibrant and unforgettable finale to our journey.
