11 Nights Uganda
Met with a warm smile and chilled bottle of water at Entebbe Airport, our Uganda holidays were off to a great start. Every aspect meticulously planned and seamlessly delivered.
Why Wild Sunsets Travel and Tours? Well, Julia and Rael ‘get it’. From start to finish, boy did they know how to give us the Uganda safari tour of our dreams!
We planned our holidays in Uganda, Africa’s ‘Pearl’, with mounting excitement. Anticipation built day-by-day. Our Uganda safari tour the highlight.
We wanted to try the fishing tours but could not fit it in. My husband, a keen golfer, lobbied for the pro golf experience, and the kids were pushing for some sunset ‘Kodak moments’ after a leisurely, sun-kissed day at the beach.
But for me it was all about the unique Uganda and safari tours. I have made a promise to myself: we will be back, for more holidays in Uganda with Wild Sunsets Travel and Tours.
The day arrived. It began with unimaginable magic.
Frozen like a statue, heart beating fast, time running slow, I felt a tap on my shoulder. Gentle breath on my neck. My daughter. ‘Look! There!’ she whispered.
There they stood. A mountain gorilla family, by wild date palms. Time stood still.
Our encounter, face-to-face with these majestic creatures, was the moment of our Uganda safari tours. We were entranced and amazed on the first of our trekking experiences in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Reserve.
Our Uganda safari tours unfolded with delights and wonder. The boat cruise another highlight: the gentle lapping of the water, small ripples, the perfect counterpoint to our rainforest adventures.
My husband is rarely lost for words. The chimpanzee trek in Kibale Forest National Park, and Bigodi swamp walk took our breaths away. Returning to our lodge, the free massage the perfect way to unwind with memories of our day.
We were taken care of with total peace of mind: road transfers; trekking permits, conservancy, and park fees; abundant, nutritious, and delicious food.
The standout of our Uganda safaris and tours will forever be those gorillas. Nearly extinct in the Eighties due to poaching and habitat loss, after efforts to protect their population, today, there are over a thousand in Uganda.
On our second Bwindi trek, the dew was wet underfoot. We stepped back in time to a world near forgotten. I felt like I was Sigourney Weaver in ‘Gorillas in The Mist’.
Encountering the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat; witnessing these majestic creatures up close, left us in firm agreement. We left our Uganda holidays with experiences and memories we will treasure for a lifetime, and more.
And I will keep that promise, and go again, for sure. Next time, for our Golden Wedding Anniversary, I want the exclusively guided option. We are chipping away at it already, and the kids are lobbying for a return trip next year. Who could blame them?
