Victoria Falls Safari Lodge

Introduction

Rael Zieve: Welcome to our inaugural episode! I am thrilled to introduce Anald Musonza, Head of Sales and Marketing at African Albida Tourism in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

Rael Zieve: Hi Anald, welcome to the show.

Anald Musonza: Hi Rael, happy to be here!

Anald’s Journey

Rael Zieve: Tell us about your path to your current role.

Anald Musonza: Sure! I started with a hospitality degree, working in fast food and major hotels. My journey with Victoria Falls Safari Lodge began as the Boma Dinner and Drum Show Manager. I climbed the ranks to F&B Manager, left briefly to manage a golf resort, and spent years working in Botswana and Zambia. I returned to Zimbabwe in 2013 and rejoined African Albida Tourism in 2019 as Resort General Manager. A year ago, I transitioned to sales and marketing.

30th Anniversary of Victoria Falls Safari Lodge

Rael Zieve: Victoria Falls Safari Lodge celebrates 30 years this December. How will you mark this milestone?

Anald Musonza: It is an exciting time! We are honouring our founders, Dave Glynn and Ross Kennedy. Our celebrations include a three-day event featuring film launches showcasing Victoria Falls Safari Lodge’s journey. We will celebrate our long-standing staff and partners, reflecting on our growth, sustainability, and the community involvement that defines us.

Sustainability at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge Zimbabwe

Rael Zieve: What sustainability projects are underway?

Anald Musonza: One key initiative is the Victoria Falls Anti-Poaching Unit, protecting local wildlife and flora since 1999. We educate nearby communities about conservation and promote sustainable practices. Our operations are 99% plastic-free, significantly reducing waste. For example, we’ve replaced over 68,000 plastic bottles annually with reusable alternatives. We also focus on indigenous plants within our resort, preserving the natural environment of Victoria Falls Safari Lodge Zimbabwe.

Community Engagement and Education

Rael Zieve: How do you engage local schools and youth?

Anald Musonza: We invite students for career exposure programs and offer apprenticeships. Currently, we have 35 apprentice chefs from local schools. Our Management Development Program also recruits graduates, equipping them with skills and job placements. This approach ensures sustainable development, benefiting both our business and the broader community.

Wildlife Experiences

Rael Zieve: How do water levels affect wildlife around Victoria Falls Safari Lodge?

Anald Musonza: Despite the El Nino drought, the main Victoria Falls flow remains steady. Wildlife sightings at our waterhole are frequent regardless of river levels. Guests enjoy game viewing from their rooms or the Buffalo Bar. Our live webcam offers a glimpse of this extraordinary experience.

Luxury and Family-Friendly Stays at Victoria Falls Safari Club

Rael Zieve: Why should families choose Victoria Falls Safari Lodge Zimbabwe?

Anald Musonza: We offer diverse accommodation; from the luxury Victoria Falls Safari Club to self-catering Lokuthula Lodges. Families enjoy exclusive wildlife views, proximity to the falls, and activities like the Boma Dinner and Drum Show. Our shuttle service provides easy access to the falls, ensuring a seamless experience.

Kids’ Activities and Cultural Experiences

Rael Zieve: What about activities for children?

Anald Musonza: Our kids’ play area features trampolines, swings, and guided nature walks with local guides. Children interact with wildlife, fostering appreciation and awareness of conservation. Parents can relax while their kids safely explore.

The Boma Dinner and Drum Show

Rael Zieve: What can guests expect from the Boma Dinner and Drum Show?

Anald Musonza: It is a vibrant celebration of Zimbabwean culture. Guests enjoy traditional cuisine, dance, and drumming. Highlights include tasting Mopani worms, earning a certificate for their bravery. With live entertainment and cultural activities, it is an unforgettable experience.

Rael Zieve: Are there any upcoming specials?

Anald Musonza: Yes! Our festive package includes a three-night stay, Boma Dinner, spa treatment, and boat cruise at discounted rates. We are also offering a giveaway ā€“ two nights for two at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge Zimbabwe, including Boma Dinner and spa treatments.
